Simple Southern Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
8 ounces of elbow macaroni (about 1/2 box of noodles)
1 stick of butter (divided in thirds)
1 can of evaporated milk OR 1 pint of half and half
1.5 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups of shredded blend cheese (Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Mozzarella)
1 large egg
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Salt
Black pepper

Instructions
Pour macaroni noodles into dish to see how many will fit in the pan. Make sure the noodles only fill the pan up half way. (it’ll rise when you add everything else in and bake it.)

After measuring the noodles, boil them and cook them just a bite under al dente.
While the noodles are cooking. divide your butter into thirds. Melt one third of your butter at this time and set it aside.
Once the noodles are done and drained preheat the oven to 350.
Set the noodles aside in a bowl and mix in one third of butter so they don't stick together.
In the pot you made the noodles in, melt the second third of butter on medium heat (5ish on the dial.)
Once the butter is melted pour in your milk.
Mix the butter and milk together well.
Once that's mixed, add in all of your sharp cheddar and 1 cup of the three-cheese blend.
Mix the cheese, butter, and milk together until it begins to thicken like a nacho cheese sauce.
If it’s TOO thick add a little more milk. If it's too milky, add more cheese.
Once your sauce is done, turn off the burner and grease your pan.

Place one half of your noodles onto the bottom of your dish.
Pour in 1/2 of your cheese sauce over these noodles and mix together well.
Then top this layer with a little of the three-cheese blend. (We will have two layers.)
Add the rest of your noodles on top of layer one.
Pour in the remainder of your cheese sauce.
Add your large egg, and mix together well.
Top it all off with the remainder of the three-cheese blend.
Bake until golden brown and bubbly (about 30-35 minutes usually)
of the cheese sauce, one beaten egg, and the other 1/2 of melted butter and mix together really well. [ your mac should be layered kind of like a lasagna— noodles, sauce, cheese, noodles, sauce, egg, cheese)
Top it all off with the shredded cheddar
Bake until golden brown and bubbly (about 30-35 minutes usually)

Take it out of the oven and let it set for about 20 minutes.
Cut and enjoy!

Invitation to Salvation
God desires so much more for us than we know. God desires for us to be restored back to His original design for mankind. I’m sure you’ve heard the story before about Adam & Eve and the fall of humanity (see more here.) God designed us to display His glory. Unfortunately, we chose to follow our own idea of evil and good, and sin was introduced to the world.
